We are finally beginning our Hockley Highlands project. We had a rough winter with a tent failure which was very dissapointing but with the onset of spring we are there ready to roll! It's a mix of granite and sandstone which is rare. The first couple of days saw us having to pry the frozen massive base stone from the icy grass and soil. Tough sledding but we managed to put up a decent section of wall! The men are doing great. The years of training make taking on new stone and a new project a real joy! Hundreds and hundreds of feet of wall to follow!
Our Kettleby project is completed for now. The carpenters now have to make their finishing touches! We'll be back this spring to continue work on the landscaping around the property as well as the herringbone edging inside the stable. It was a long hard winter, very cold this year and it was a drastic change from our usual dry stone work. Very satisfying work though. All stone was brought up from the hill sides in Pennsylvania. Many thanks to Miguel, Ken and Graham for all their help on this extraordinary project!
